Objectives: . This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of M. genitalium infection and understand the patterns of resistance associated mutations (resistance hereafter) in people living with HIV (PLWH). Methods: . We searched PubMed-MEDLINE, Embase and Web of Science to identify studies published as of 31st December 2023, reporting the prevalence of M. genitalium infection in PLWH. The pooled prevalence of M. genitalium infection and its resistance was calculated using random-effect models. Results: .

. Objective. To develop an interpretable machine learning (ML) model for predicting severe Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (SMPP) in order to provide reliable factors for predicting the clinical type of the disease. . Methods. We collected clinical data from 483 school-aged children with M. pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) who were hospitalized at the Children's Hospital of Soochow University between September 2021 and June 2024.

. Objective. To investigate the genotyping and drug resistance of Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) epidemic strains in children and analyze the risk factors for refractory Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (RMPP). . Method. Nasopharyngeal aspirates (NPA) were collected from hospitalized children with MP infection from September to October 2023.

. Background. The global epidemic of Mycoplasma genitalium (MG) is marked by its widespread prevalence, varied resistance patterns, and significant impact on sexual health. This study aimed to understand the prevalence and interaction of MG infections with other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in a low-resource setting, as well as the implications for routine STIs care. . Methods.

This large global dataset for M pneumoniae detections shows that although there was an unprecedented high number of detections across many countries in late 2023, the severity and number of deaths remained low. Our results suggest that the delayed re-emergence was related to the long incubation period of M pneumoniae infection.

. Background. Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) is a common bacterial respiratory infection that can cause pneumonia, particularly in children. Previously published data have highlighted the high incidence of viral co-infections and the problem of increasing macrolide resistance in MP worldwide. . Aims.

. Background. Mycoplasma pneumoniae (M. pneumoniae) is a common pathogen of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). Epidemics occur every 3–7 years especially in pediatric patients. We collected data from a large laboratory network in Germany to define the epidemiological dynamics in the pre- and post-COVID-19 pandemic period. . Methods.

This study aimed to explore a breakthrough for further investigations in further. . Methods. The Web of Science Core Collection was queried using the search term TS = “mycoplasma pneumoniae” for articles from January 1, 2009, to September 24, 2024.

. Background. Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a prevalent pathogen in pediatric community-acquired pneumonia. Currently, limited literature exists on the clinical utilization of pathogen-targeted sequencing technologies. . Methods. Targeted next-generation sequencing (tNGS) technology was employed to analyze bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) from 1,070 hospitalized pediatric patients with acute lower respiratory tract infections.

This national, observational study highlighted unexpected, atypical radiological presentations, a high proportion of transfers to the ICU, and an association between severity and delayed administration of effective antibiotics. This should remind clinicians that no radiological presentation can rule out M pneumoniae infection, and encourage them to reassess patients early after prescribing a β-lactam, or even to discuss prescribing macrolides as first-line treatment in the context of an epidemic.

. Abstract. . Background. Mycoplasma hominis is a part of the microflora of the urogenital tract; however, extra-urogenital infections due to M. hominis are rare. Since November 2023, the absolute number of attendances at emergency departments for pneumonia among children aged 5–14 years in England have been above expected levels for the time of year. This increased signal peaked during March 2024 but then persisted into early summer 2024 despite decreases in prevalence of seasonal respiratory pathogens. Record linkage between emergency department and laboratory databases points to this unusual activity being driven largely by Mycoplasma pneumoniae. .
