…. Enteroviruses (EV) cause yearly outbreaks with severe infections, particularly in young children. This study investigates EV circulation, age-distribution, and clinical presentations in Europe from 2018-2023.Methods . Aggregated data were requested from ECDC National Focal Points for Surveillance and European Non-Polio Enterovirus Network. Data included detection month, specimen type, age-group, and clinical presentation for the ten most commonly reported EV types per year.Findings .

The ECDC HIV/AIDS Surveillance Report 2023 highlights concern regarding new HIV infections in the EU/EEA and in the WHO European region. Since 2010, the annual number of new HIV cases in the EU/EEA has decreased by 35%, while in the broader WHO European region, it has risen by 9% [1].

…months of 2024, more than 8000 confirmed human cases of Oropouche virus disease (OVD) were reported in endemic regions in addition to Cuba, a country not previously reporting cases[1]. In parallel to the increase of cases in endemic regions, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) recently reported the first imported cases of OVD into Europe with 19 cases identified in Spain, Italy, and Germany related to recent travel to Cuba and Brazil, both areas currently experiencing outbreaks[2].
